HIV Care Services becomes Contracting and Management Services
During the past quarter-century, Public Health Solutions' HIV Care Services division has ensured that over $2.5 billion in total funding has gone from legislative acts of Congress and the New York City Council to the care of people living with HIV and AIDS and those at risk. The division now expands its portfolio of contracting services to include a broader array of public health and human services initiatives, and begins using the new divisional name Contracting and Management Services (CAMS) to reflect its new direction.

PHS Develops Contraceptive Counseling Module
Public Health Solutions develops a touch-screen contraceptive counseling module, which asks a series of questions about a patient's history and needs, and then identifies the most effective forms of birth control for her to discuss with a medical professional. A randomized control trial shows that patients make more effective birth control choices after using the module.

MHRA Takes On New Programs
During the City's fiscal crisis, NYCDOH entrusts management of several major service programs for women and children to MHRA, including Maternal Infant Care/Family Planning Project and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children.
MHRA established by the New York City Department of Health (NYCDOH) to increase its public health research capacity. Initial research projects include an examination of the role of the social sciences in public health, public attitudes to mental health, and patterns of medical care delivery.
